Bonnie Ryerson
about Bonnie
Originally from Wellesley, Massachusetts, Bonnie Ryerson is a professional actor and youth theatre director currently based in South Carolina and Atlanta. As an actor, Bonnie has had a rich and varied career. She has appeared Off-Broadway, in regional and national tours, in numerous independent films, and in many on-camera and voiceover commercials. She is an alumna of The Boston Conservatory of Music where she has fond memories of playing Portia in The Merchant of Venice and Wendla Bergman in Spring Awakening. She spent many years living and working in New York City, where she studied with Anne Jackson at The Herbert Berghof Studio and with George Morrison.
For the past 30 years, Bonnie has been the co-Artistic Director of The Pied Piper Youth Theatre which she founded along with her husband, John. Begun as a labor of love inspired by their son, Max, PPYT now has thriving companies in New York and South Carolina, with more than 200 productions under its belt. Bonnie continues to balance her directing career with her acting, having recently appeared in the award winning short film, That Feeling, based on the Stephen King book, and starring in the soon-to-be-released feature film, Maintaining Mack Messings.
As she broadens her focus to include episodic television, you may see Bonnie on screen as the disappointed mother manipulating her progeny into towing the family line, as the embittered wife pushed just a step too far by her philandering husband, or as the compassionate nurse offering solace and sage advice to her struggling patient.
